Customer Appreciation

Having worked in or owned a small business for 25 years, I’ve always put a big emphasis on building relationships that started with an in-person meeting on a trade show exhibition floor. I’ve been to hundreds of conferences and trade shows in my career and can vividly recall which customer I met at which event.

Among the most memorable is Solar Power International (SPI) in Dallas in 2011. One of my meetings that year at SPI was with Ed Heacox who was leading the solar inverter division at Advanced Energy. Shortly after SPI, Ed left Advanced Energy and partnered up with Casey Miller to bring Chint Power Systems (CPS) to the US market. Fast forward to 2014, EnergeiaWorks signed a services contract to help CPS find top talent around the US, and our very first placement with CPS was John Drummond as an Applications Engineer. John is still working at CPS leading applications engineering and product training.

Last year I was lucky enough to sit down with John, Ryan Pasquali, and Matt Dolansky on the Clean Power Hour podcast with Tim Montague. Hear what we had to say about recruiting and retaining top talent in the solar industry! For the last 10 years, EnergeiaWorks has helped CPS (now under the helm of Bryan Wagner) find account executives, field service engineers, technicians, software engineers, lab technicians, applications engineers, and product managers.

When I launched Renewables UnWind in 2016, it’s no surprise that CPS was an early supporter of the event series. Since then, CPS has supported dozens of events and became the first series sponsor last year, joining all of our US events; and increasing their support this year to include all of our Canadian events as well.

Coming full circle on my first meeting with CPS in Dallas, I’m traveling this week to Giga Week at the CPS headquarters and Innovation Center in Richardson, Texas. The initiative features product presentations, a partnership showcase, technical training, and plenty of networking among CPS partners and customers. As a longstanding customer and partner, EnergeiaWorks is grateful for the business that CPS has given to us over the past decade and for our shared commitment to innovation in the renewable space!
