Job Description

As the Manager, Electrical Engineering, you will be responsible for leading projects and managing performance of electrical aspects of projects including: due diligence, feasibility, solar and wind project design. As a senior leader, you will be responsible for mentorship and development of junior, intermediate and senior electrical engineers on the Electrical Engineering team; as well as supporting management, mentorship and development of other disciplines as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide business and execution strategy input to the President & CEO.
  • Act as APEGA Responsible Member and support APEGA P.Eng designation process for Electrical Engineering team members.
  • Develop, lead, and mentor team of Electrical Engineers.
  • Resource management and planning for active projects and Electrical Engineering team.
  • Conduct project feasibility studies and create reports with inputs from other team members or external SMEs.
  • Perform project management functions such as preparing project plans, schedules, budgets and cost estimates.
  • Present technical analysis and data in reports, summarize key findings and make appropriate recommendations for project optimization.
  • Assess potential new renewable energy projects and sites with respect to various constraints including regulatory, stakeholder relations, interconnection, energy resource, geotechnical, etc.
  • Conduct project due diligence analysis and create reports with inputs from other team members or external SMEs.
  • Compile technical data and provide input/recommendations on scope of work for client proposals.
  • Identify project risks and provide recommendations to mitigate risks.
  • Management (and performance of) Solar Energy Modeling, Medium Voltage system designs, interconnection interface management process, and other technical analysis

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered P. Eng with APEGA.
  • 15+ years industry experience; preference given to those with power generation and/or renewables experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience.
  • 5+ years in a project environment.
  • Proven leadership skills and demonstrated ability to manage team efficiently and effectively.
  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial environment with a small team considered an asset.
  • Other equivalent combinations of directly related post-secondary education and directly related experience may be considered.
