Job Description

As the Director of Construction, you will lead our construction initiatives ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. You will have a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects from inception to completion, with expertise in overseeing diverse construction groups, including civil, piling, mechanical, and electrical. You will work closely with project management teams to oversee and manage the construction of all projects and ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with Project Management, the Construction Director shall oversee and manage the construction phase of all projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Tender support - collaborating with the sales team, project managers, engineers, and subcontractors throughout new-project bids:
  • Reviewing and providing comments to project plans, specifications, and drawings
  • Providing advice on construction sequencing & high-level schedules
  • Overseeing labor estimates and costings by category (civil, piling, mechanical, electrical) from construction start to completion
  • EPC Contracting and Pre-construction – collaborating with sales team, project managers, engineers and subcontractors through the contracting phase:
  • Ensuring subcontractors’ scope-of-work and pricing and timelines are clearly defined
  • Firming up detailed direct-labor plans and construction schedules - ensuring labor cost estimates and resourcing plans are clearly defined
  • Manage and coordinate with the procurement team the procurement of construction materials, equipment, and subcontractors, negotiating contracts and agreements as necessary
  • Develop and implement construction strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize efficiency and productivity
  • Maintain a regular on-site and off-site presence – providing support and advice to Site Construction Managers and Supervisors
  • Oversee construction to ensure production adheres to the project schedule, milestone deadlines and cost budgets
  • Monitor and evaluate construction progress, identifying and resolving any issues or delays that may arise
  • Document the status of each construction phase and provide updates/reports to senior management highlighting planned-versus-actual construction progress, risks & opportunities, and performance within the individual construction divisions
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as project management, engineering, finance and legal, to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and regulatory requirements
  • Review the closing of each project to ensure the as-built product meets contractual specifications & client expectations
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field
  • 10+ years of construction experience with at least five years in a managerial role, with a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects from inception to completion
  • Experience in large-scale ground-mount PV systems
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, codes, and regulations
  • Expertise with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PPT)
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across functional teams and other stakeholders
